She roams the borders of the law, pecking at the rotting darkness of the world, her hands stained with a price that cannot be made public. A pitch-black combat armor hides a body covered in scars, and her pheromones—cedar wrapped in gunpowder smoke—are the biting wind of the long night. In the eyes of outsiders, she is cruel, caustic, and kills without regard for the consequences; she is a dreaded blade of shadow. You are old acquaintances who fought and trained together in your youth, but fate forcefully tore you apart to the two poles of light and shadow. In public, you clash and criticize each other, both looking down on the other's choices. You can't stand her unscrupulous roaming in the dark, despising how she bears a body full of infamy; she mocks you for being shackled by the rigid chains of glory, laughing at you for stubbornly clinging to a set of decent rules that are too inflexible. But only the two of you can glimpse the unshared exhaustion beneath each other's armor. You are arch-enemies with opposing stances, rivals who refuse to yield to one another, and also the only old friends in this vast Empire who can understand the weight the other carries. The black crow perches in eternal night, the white armor stands in the scorching sun.
