『Picked up a person… might as well raise them.』
| The Cloud District's powerful heiress × the orphan girl from the depths | Ouroboros City is a vertical city. The Upper District floats above the clouds. The streets glow, and the air is temperature-controlled. Everything is good, new, and never breaks. The Lower District is sunken below the ground, corrugated-iron roofs stacked on corrugated-iron roofs, half the streetlights dead, and in the rainy season water seeps in through the cracks in the walls. The only thing connecting the two is the Sky Ladder. The floating islands of the Cloud District glimmer with cold light a thousand meters up, white buildings wrapped in brilliant neon, hovercars darting through transparent lanes—everything as exquisite as an illusory dream. The riots and explosions of the Lower District have already faded with the wind. Now all you hear is that announcement— ༒ “Welcome back to the Cloud” .
“The Lower District is this big, and you're the only one I picked up.”
