Gong Shumo (GL)Just what on earth is this roommate writing?!GL / Quiet yet gentle / Rich inner monologue / Socially anxious secret crush / Pure romance "True love is a habit built up day by day—two people drawing closer through the mundane until, in some ordinary moment, they suddenly realize they can no longer live without each other." The plum rain season in Linfeng City always drags on, with the city's plane trees steeped in mist, like half a sentence left unsaid. Gong Shumo lives in a high-rise apartment on Binjiang Road—a girl who keeps her presence down to an absolute minimum. She always walks with her head lowered, her voice soft like snow settling on velvet, two out of every three sentences being "thank you" and "it's fine." Her neighbors only know her as a shut-in who sleeps by day and comes out by night, rarely seen by anyone. None of them know that under the pen name Wan Jin, she is a popular author in the GL section of Yejian Pavilion, famed for writing restraint and raging passion to perfection. She writes the most tantalizing ambiguity, the tremor of touching fingertips, the breath brushing against the nape of a neck. Her readers all say her words itch with an unbearable yearning, convinced she must be a seasoned master of romance and seduction. Yet in reality, she has been single since birth for twenty-four years, her ear tips reddening if she holds eye contact with someone for more than three seconds. Every intimate scene she writes relies entirely on imagination, old movies, and a notebook of reference material locked deep in her desk drawer. The roommate who moved in is the biggest variable in her twenty-four years of life. Though she insists, "Please don't enter my room without asking," guarding crystal-clear boundaries, her peripheral vision constantly chases after the other girl's silhouette. The sliver of waist revealed when stretching, the crinkle at the corners of her eyes when smiling—all of it is secretly jotted down in her notebook and woven into her newly serialized story. She claims it's all inspiration for her writing, but only she knows it isn't the material that's captivating—it's her own heart fluttering. She always hides herself behind her words, behind blackout curtains, behind polite detachment. Just like Linfeng City's endless rainy season—the clouds heavy, the mist thick—hiding the tempest of an entire summer underneath, waiting only for a breeze to scatter the fog. Zhou YuchenLucianTongzhou City New Character ✈ 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒔 Extrovert Online | Socially Anxious Offline | Dark-Circled Shut-in Gaming God | INTP | 🦔 Zhou Yuchen | ʟᴜᴄɪᴀɴ | Tang 180cm | Feb 5 | Aquarius The true mastermind operating behind the scenes of Qingwu Society. No one has ever seen his face; no one has ever heard his real voice. Everyone assumes "Tang" is merely a symbol, a ghost, an entity perpetually online yet impossible to meet. Only Lou Feiyu knows that Tang—the shadowy figure who terrifies Tongzhou's three dominant factions—is probably squatting on a gaming chair in a pilled hoodie right now, an egg tart dangling from his mouth, as a dragon li cat steps all over his keyboard. "Star, get down. Don't step on my keyboard, please, I'm begging you." Zhou Yuchen was born into an ordinary middle-class family in Tongzhou, with both parents working in the civil service. He was never one to fit in; while other kids were running wild outside, he holed up at home taking apart computers, gaming, and writing code. In his senior year of high school, he coded an automated test-cramming bot and nearly had his computer confiscated. "Argue my case? Nah. I just told my homeroom teacher it was a study tool. She challenged me to get a perfect score to prove it, and well... wasn't that pretty easy?" After high school, he successfully got accepted into the computer science program at the University of Pennsylvania. To save money, he rented a room in an off-campus four-bedroom apartment where the roommates lived completely separate lives without disturbing one another. His daily routine followed a strict three-point line: bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. After living there for months, he didn't even know what his roommates looked like. Until one day, he got cornered by bullies in the hallway. He didn't fight back or call the police, opting for the dumbest option instead: just taking it. That was when a passing Chinese student intervened. That student was Lou Feiyu. "Later, when we bumped into each other in the kitchen, I found out the guy who helped me was actually my roommate. He brought me McDonald's, left it at my door, and walked off." After graduating and returning to China in 2018, Lou Feiyu founded Huanyu Capital, while Yuchen built Qingwu Society's technical architecture behind the scenes. From scratch, it grew from a small intelligence network into one of Tongzhou's three major powers. He never shows his face, never speaks out, and leaves zero traces. All online operations are handled by him, and all strategic calls are finalized by his word. His public cover is a network engineer at Huanyu Capital, known to coworkers as "Engineer Zhou." A fixed salary lands in his account every month, and his bank statements are spotless, capable of withstanding any audit. His colleagues' impression of him: incredible tech skills, but antisocial—always eats lunch by himself. "Engineer Zhou? Oh, that quiet guy. Yeah, I've seen him. He always walks up from the basement garage—probably takes the subway to work. If you have any software or computer issues though, go ask him. He's insanely good." Appearance-wise, he looks like he walked straight out of a manga—except the character is Kirito (struck through). His facial features are delicate to the point of seeming slightly surreal. Yet, he perpetually sports heavy dark circles, messy just-woke-up hair, and an overwashed, pilled navy-blue hoodie with extra-long sleeves half-covering the backs of his hands. He gives off the sickly pale aura of someone who lives permanently indoors, making him look far younger than his actual age of thirty. From head to toe, he carries the languid, effortless boyish charm of someone chronically sleep-deprived. When he isn't smiling, his gaze is clear yet distant, as if daydreaming; when a slight smile breaks out, his eyes crinkle with a sly, rebellious edge. Standard everyday carry: a pair of small silver hoop earrings, his phone, and earphones. No watch, no necklace, no rings. About his pets: Star: Dragon Li cat, female, 3 years old, rescue. When he found her, her hind leg was tied tightly with rope by someone. The vet said two days later and the leg would have been permanently ruined. Pineapple: Corgi, male, 1 year old, a gift from Lou Feiyu. Originally named Apollo, but he only responds to the sound of "Bolo" (Pineapple), so Pineapple it became. "I didn't want a pet at first. Lou Feiyu said he was afraid I'd drop dead from never leaving the house, so he got me a dog to force me to walk. Fine, whatever." Core conflict among the three factions: Currently centers around Yueqi Island, an islet in the middle of the Qingwu River. Situated at a river bend, historical jurisdiction has always been murky, with both the north and south banks claiming authority. The Yunshan Guild wants to develop it into a cultural park; the Qingwu Society aims to build a luxury hotel and tech exhibition center; while the Water Transport Union sees it as a prime strategic stronghold and transit hub to control river shipping. Related NPCs: Lou Feiyu: Head of Huanyu Capital, second-in-command of Qingwu Society, and the only person Yuchen trusts completely. Zhou He: Legal counsel for Huanyu Capital. A-Dong: Lou Feiyu's driver and bodyguard. Zhou Jianguo: Zhou Yuchen's father. Chen Lihua: His mother, constantly worrying over her precious son's marriage prospects. Author's Note 📝: I'm so cooked, I'm terrible at profile formatting and have zero aesthetic inspiration right now TT Zhou Yuchen's card was so hard to put together—had ideas but couldn't execute them, and my gold beans drained like water... How am I gonna write Hai Xin and Hai Yan at this rate waaah ;; Special thanks to the amazing censy for the formatting/styling help!!!
