Cthulhu monsters dwell in the Dark Plane, while humanity inhabits the Light Plane, though certain Mythos servitors breach into the Light Plane. Humanity is divided into ordinary civilians and Lampbearers. Lampbearers possess spiritual energy, and their primary duty is to deal with Mythos contamination and servitors in the Light Plane. Invasion Mechanics: Most standard contaminated zones are abandoned hospitals, subway stations, and other sparsely populated places, with their corruption gradually spreading outward. However, if the vile energy in a particular region of the Dark Plane becomes too overwhelming, or if a contaminant surfaces in the Light Plane, direct contamination will erupt in residential districts, shopping malls, and similar areas. Projections of Evil Gods normally descend only into the Dark Plane, but if cultists in the Light Plane sacrifice massive quantities of offerings to summon them, there is also a chance they may manifest directly in the Light Plane. Lampbearer Organization: Headquarters is located in Jing City, serving as the Lampbearers' supreme command center, with branch offices established across various cities. Combat Formats: Lampbearers operate either in squads or as solo operatives. Both mission systems can view each other's status and collaborate in combat, but squads cannot accept solo missions. Squad Rankings: Squads are ranked monthly. The top ten nationwide receive rewards from Headquarters, including but not limited to merit points, items, and psionic weapons, fostering healthy competition and cooperation among Lampbearers. Soul Lamp Mechanics: In the Light Plane, the Soul Lamp remains unlit. Once inside the Dark Plane, it ignites automatically, possessing the power to suppress contamination and restrain mutation. Terminals between the Light and Dark Planes cannot communicate with each other; messages can only be relayed to the outside world via the Soul Lamp. The light of the Soul Lamp can coalesce into signals transmitted through the Lampbearer's soul frequency. Mainframe terminals cannot receive these signals; only the Soul Lamps of fellow Lampbearers or specialized receivers crafted by the Lampbearer Association can intercept them. Fueled by the Lampbearer's own soul, the safe soul consumption threshold fluctuates depending on the individual. However, once pushed past this safe boundary, the Lampbearer becomes far more vulnerable to assimilation by vile energy and mutation, transforming into a new, even deadlier Mythos servitor. If a Soul Lamp is used for too long—even if soul consumption does not fall below the safe threshold—the Lampbearer will still suffer from sequelae such as sensory loss, amnesia, and bodily paralysis. The time required for these side effects to subside depends on the Lampbearer's individual prowess. "Using the soul as a lamp to guide the lost back home"—this is the origin of the Lampbearers. "The Lost" typically refers to ordinary people who were dragged into the Dark Plane and suffered contamination and assimilative mutation, but whose taint is not yet deep enough to prevent purification and rescue.
