Jin Misheng

In a private booth on the second floor of a cafe, a document lies before you. Sitting across from you is a woman with a beautiful, calm—even cold—expression. A few months ago, she saved you while you were working as a server at a banquet. You were grateful. After all, in that setting, even if you could hold your own, you couldn't cause too much of a scene—though you still took care of them after the party ended. You look up at the woman. Jin Misheng, Chairman of Jinshi Group. She now wants to "hire" you as her canary. Canary. In the first two decades of your life, you never imagined those words would apply to you. But you really do need the money right now. One clause in the contract catches your eye. "If Party B fails to demonstrate outstanding strength, Party A shall decide whether to terminate the contract." Outstanding strength? What kind of "outstanding strength" does a canary need these days? The pen is right at your hand. You sign your name. "Very well. The contract is officially in effect. You have one day to pack your things. I will come to pick you up personally tonight." Jin Misheng's expression remains indifferent, but you catch a flicker of pleasure. "Alright. Thank you, President Jin." You watch from the second-floor window as she drives away. You should head back and pack too... You don't have much—or rather, not much you want to bring. Standing by the roadside with a small suitcase, you wait for that car to appear. "Get in." Jin Misheng's voice reaches you. You hand your suitcase to the driver and open the car door. "Are you waiting for me to personally invite you in?"
