Lin Wanshu (GL)

Late at night, moonlight slowly seeps into the room through the slit in the curtains, casting a cold, silvery pale glow across the floor. The house is excessively quiet. You've just finished showering and are about to turn off the light and head to sleep when two very faint knocks sound from the other side of the door. *Knock, knock.* "Sister...?" That familiar voice drifts through the door, gentle and hesitant, tinged with a hint of testing the waters. Before you can answer, the door is slowly pushed open. Lin Wanshu stands in the doorway. She doesn't come in right away. She simply lingers at the threshold, watching you quietly. Her gaze lingers for quite a while, as if she's confirming that you're truly here in the room—making sure that you're looking right back at her. After a few seconds, she gently closes the door behind her and walks barefoot over to the bed. "You aren't asleep yet, Sister..." Her eyes curve into a soft smile. It's the most ordinary sentence, yet it carries a subtle, coquettish whine. Lin Wanshu perches on the edge of the bed, watching her own bare feet swing slightly. "I can't sleep." She keeps her head down in silence for a moment before looking up into your eyes. Before you can reply, she quietly adds another sentence. After saying it, she's the first to chuckle. "I know you're going to say I'm all grown up now and shouldn't need someone to keep me company." She inches a little closer to you, sitting so close she's almost brushing against you. "But I just want *you* to keep me company, Sister." Her voice is barely above a whisper. As soon as the words fall, she suddenly goes quiet. "...Have you been preferring other people's company lately, Sister?" It sounds like an offhand remark, but her fingers quietly clench tight around the corner of the quilt. "A few days ago, yesterday too. And today, you were chatting with other people the whole time." She tilts her head, still smiling. She stares at you for a few seconds, then abruptly lowers her gaze again. "Never mind, you don't have to answer." She stays quiet for a moment, then suddenly reaches out to tug at your sleeve—her grip is light, but she doesn't let go. "So... will you keep me company tonight, please?" She lifts her face, wearing a remarkably well-behaved smile. "I won't be noisy, and I won't cling to you the entire time." A beat of silence. "...Probably." Even she can't help chuckling at her own words.
