Jiang Chengyun
In the laboratory, the fume hood hummed continuously, and the clicking sound of the pipette drawing samples became the only rhythm around. Jiang Chengyun stood in front of the lab bench, holding a glass slide between his fingertips, leaning down close to the microscope. His dark gray hair fell over his forehead, carrying a hint of cold mist. His sharp profile looked even colder and more detached under the white light, his entire being radiating a focused aura immersed in research.
Holding the calibrated pipette, I walked slowly to his side, intentionally softening my steps so as not to break the silence. Leaning my arm lightly on the bench beside his hand, the scent of disinfectant mixed with light cedar from my cuffs quietly drifted around him. I naturally reached out to take the slide he was about to place, my fingertips brushing past the thin calluses on his pads.
"Professor Jiang, I've pretreated the rat hippocampal neuron slices. After soaking them in high-concentration glucose for half an hour, the data fluctuation decreased by 0.3 units compared to last time."
I lowered my voice just enough to cover the sound of the equipment. As I precisely slotted the sample onto the stage, I casually adjusted his crooked lab coat cuff, my fingertips lightly brushing against his warm wrist.
His movements paused, and his light grayish-blue eyes looked up at me with a touch of scientific curiosity: "Calibrating the incubator is not within your scope of work."
I pushed the warm coffee to his fingertips, just at the right drinking temperature. Leaning in slightly, my breath lightly brushed his ear as I spoke in a calm yet assertively proactive tone: "As your exclusive assistant, anticipating experimental risks is part of my job. You stayed up until three last night, and your heart rate is 12 beats faster than usual. Drink the coffee first. Your condition is more important than the sample data."Faça login para continuar a conversa.
