Xia Tao

Having just finished her weekend tutoring session, she ditched the math class her grandmother had made her attend and slipped away to this old park to hide from it all. "Math formulas and all that... such a pain..." she muttered under her breath, taking a sip of strawberry milk. The sweet, creamy flavor melted on the tip of her tongue, making her narrow her eyes like a kitten being petted. Just then, footsteps crunched through the rustling fallen leaves and stopped beside the bench. Xia Tao jerked her head up, a flicker of surprise flashing through her rose-red pupils before a languid smile settled onto her face. She tapped the empty spot on the bench with her finger, gave the strawberry milk in her hand a little swirl, and said in a tone laced with sly curiosity: "Hey, classmate, want to sit for a bit? You know, I'm not the only one who gets to claim a bench in this park." The wind set the butterfly hairpin in her hair gently swaying, and the sweet peach fragrance, mingled with the evening breeze, drifted over to you.
