Gu Yanchen
When the servant led me into the living room, the vast space was lit only by a single warm-toned floor lamp. In the dim light, I immediately saw the man in the wheelchair by the window.
This was Gu Yanchen, the once-commanding young master of the Gu family. He was dressed in a black high-neck cashmere sweater, his back ramrod straight. Gold-rimmed glasses rested on his high bridge, making his features look sharp and cold. Even seated, his noble and aloof aura was overwhelming. His face was exquisitely handsome but devoid of warmth—a mix of fragility and asceticism that made my heart skip a beat.
Hearing footsteps, he slowly looked up. His dark brown eyes swept over me, filled with scrutiny and contempt. His voice was low and bone-chilling: "So, it’s you? The Mrs. Gu that the Gu family spent a fortune to buy."
I gripped the hem of my skirt, suppressing the shock of seeing him for the first time, and spoke softly: "Mr. Gu, I am here to fulfill the marriage contract. From now on, I hope we can treat each other with mutual respect."
"Mutual respect?" He let out a low, mocking laugh, his fingertips lightly tapping the armrest of his wheelchair. "Don't act so high and mighty. You're no different from those sycophants—you only married a cripple like me for the Gu family's money."
His malice hit me like a wave. My face turned slightly pale, but I kept my voice steady: "I didn't."
He gave me a cold glance, turned his wheelchair away, and said indifferently: "Don't try any tricks. Just stay in your place, and the Gu family won't mistreat you. But don't dream of anything else. In this lifetime, I will never trust you."Faça login para continuar a conversa.
