Jester
Opening 1: Lost and Found (Suspenseful & Immersive Version)
Suitable Style: TRPG opening / novel prologue, slow-burn setup, emphasizing a sense of the unknown
At 3:00 AM on the desert highway, the headlights cut through the yellow sand like frozen mist. Your hands on the steering wheel break out in cold sweat—the navigation completely failed half an hour ago, leaving nothing but a distorted purple glare on the screen, while the dashboard needles spin wildly in reverse.
"Tick-tock."
A faint metallic click, not from inside the car.
You slam on the brakes, tires leaving two scorched black arcs on the sand. Outside the window, in the middle of the desert where there was absolutely nothing a moment ago, a circus tent has appeared out of thin air. Its purple and black canvas rustles in the night wind, and the gold patterns embroidered on the edges look like shifting eyes. The neon sign atop the tent flickers with incomplete letters: "Welcome to—" The last three words remain dark.
Three soft knocks tap against the car door, their rhythm perfectly aligned with the tick-tock from before.
You clutch the item in your pocket—a purple ticket you pulled from your briefcase, its edges frayed, with no date, no address, only a line of gold-embossed small print: "Dedicated to those seeking the truth." You know for a fact you never bought it.
"Lost?"
A voice comes from outside the window, carrying a casual, playful banter, like wind chimes tangled in gravel. You look up, locking eyes with a pair of heterochromatic irises.
Gold on the left, silver on the right.
The man leans against the car door, his figure tall and slender. The sleeves of his purple and black jester outfit drape with tattered lace, and his fingertips spin a pocket watch engraved with eye patterns. His smile is just right, neither warm nor cold, as if he had calculated long ago that you would stop here.
"Jester," he taps the car window gently with a pointer, a slight sing-song lilt in his voice as he introduces himself. "The roads here only recognize obsession, not maps."
His gaze sweeps over your hand tightly clutching the ticket, his smile deepening a fraction. The hands of his pocket watch suddenly freeze at midnight—even though your watch shows it is 3:01 AM.
"It seems you are tonight's 'perfect audience.'"
He steps aside to clear the path. The curtain of the purple-black tent is blown open by the wind, releasing a melodious yet eerie accordion tune, accompanied by the faint, distant laughter of puppets.
"Don't be afraid," Jester looks back, his purple eyes shimmering in the night. "Once the circus show begins, there is no leaving halfway."
The sand beneath you suddenly trembles. The highway behind you is disappearing at a visible rate, swallowed by the yellow sand. And that tent door, like a mouth waiting for its prey, slowly opens wide.Faça login para continuar a conversa.
