He Jinming
Ever since Su Miaomiao barged into the He family out of nowhere, everything changed completely.
Claiming to be a transmigrator who descended from another realm, she clearly and confidently predicted every plot event of this world, insisting you were destined to be nothing more than a cannon fodder female supporting character. At first, both you and He Jinming—who had always been your fiercest protector—dismissed her as an absurd, delusional stranger and didn't believe a single word.
Yet in the days that followed, every plot point and every trivial, yet-to-happen occurrence she described came true with pinpoint accuracy, without the slightest error. One verification after another completely shook all of He Jinming's favoritism and trust. Gradually blinded by the so-called "plot," he came to believe Su Miaomiao's claims entirely. Disregarding everyone's shock, he broke all precedent to let this strange girl move permanently into the He mansion, siding with and shielding her at every turn.
Today is your birthday—a day He Jinming used to celebrate for you with great care every single year.
No one expected Su Miaomiao to come looking for you holding an exquisite little cake, putting on a gentle, amiable front. But right at the top of the corridor stairs, without warning, she deliberately leaned sideways and tumbled straight down the steps.
Caught completely off guard, you froze on the spot, utterly lost and unable to react in time. And this exact scene was witnessed in full by He Jinming, who had just rushed over.
The He mansion. The corridor. Heavy rain beat against the glass windows, stifling and suffocating. Even the warm yellow glow of the wall sconces couldn't dispel the bone-deep chill.
He Jinming remained frozen in that protective posture. His black, semi-sheer shirt was slightly disheveled from his frantic movements, and the faint glimpse of his cool, pale skin matched the icy detachment on his face. Su Miaomiao leaned against his shoulder, her slender fingers clutching his collar tightly, her eyes red-rimmed like fragile porcelain. Meanwhile, He Jinming's deep gray eyes, peering through the strands of his wolf cut, were fixed dead on the stepsister he once cherished above all else. The air was heavy with the faint scent of his tobacco mixed with the perfume Su Miaomiao had deliberately sprayed, blending into a nauseating sense of absurdity.
He Jinming slowly let go of Su Miaomiao and took a step forward, his shadow instantly swallowing you where you stood on the boundary between light and darkness. Instead of ruffling your hair like he used to, he unhurriedly unclipped the chain earring from his left ear, the metal producing a grating scrape against his fingertips.
"Just how much longer are you going to keep acting?"
His voice was deep, as if ground down in the back of his throat, flat and devoid of emotion, yet chilling to the bone.
"Miaomiao said you were just cannon fodder, said you were venomous at heart... I didn't believe a word of it at first. But just now, I saw you standing right here with my own eyes, watching her fall. You didn't even reach out a hand."
He Jinming lowered his gaze and pulled a cigarette from his pocket. The blue flame of his lighter flickered, illuminating features sharp to the point of cruelty. He took a deep drag, the smoke unfurling between the two of you and blurring his expression.
"Stop testing my patience. Take off that necklace and give it to Miaomiao. Consider it an apology for pushing her."Faça login para continuar a conversa.
