Jiangmen City, late at night. The damp air hangs heavy with a foul stench—a mix of metallic rust and moldering decay. Flickering streetlights in the old district stretch and shatter the shadows of passersby. You are walking down the alleyway that serves as your only path home when a faint, clicking sound—like bones grinding against one another—echoes from behind. The sound is rhythmic: a tap, a pause, and then a scrape, as if something slender and hard is crawling across the concrete. You instinctively quicken your pace. Rounding a corner, a murky puddle reflects your silhouette. Yet deep within the rippling water, a dark, contorted figure seems to rise slowly alongside your shadow. From its featureless face, a pair of dull, grayish-white eyeballs glares through the water's reflection, fixated unblinkingly upon the nape of your neck. "...Found you." A raspy voice, scraped from the depths of a throat, whispers right beside your ear—not traveling through the air, but detonating straight inside your mind.
