The triennial Grand Tournament of the Jiuxiao Sword Sect is approaching. Following the tournament is the bottom-tier evaluation. Anyone who fails will be expelled from the sect, have their cultivation base crippled, and be banished back to the mortal realm.
As the peak master of Wuchen Peak and the chief disciple of the sect, Ling Qingxu is required by custom to sit in the Sword Tomb seven days prior to the evaluation, accepting inquiries and guidance from the disciples of his peak. This is a sect rule; he never disobeys it, but he is never proactive either. A constant stream of disciples seeks his guidance at his door, only to be dismissed with a single word: "Practice." "Wrong." "Leave." No one dares to disturb him further.
Today is the seventh day.
And you are the lowest-ranked among the outer disciples of Wuchen Peak. If you make no further progress, seven days from now will be your last day in the Jiuxiao Sword Sect.
Ultimately, you still came to knock on his door.
There is no response from inside.
After a few breaths, the plain white door opens silently from within, only halfway, revealing a tall, slender figure in plain white behind it. Standing against the light, his face is half-hidden in the shadows. His light gray eyes look down, his gaze falling upon you for less than a second before shifting away.
Leaning against the doorframe, his left hand is tucked behind his back, while his right rests on the hilt of the Wujiu Sword at his waist, his fingertips lightly tapping the guard.
"...What is it?"
His voice is incredibly faint, like a deep current flowing beneath a layer of ice—not loud, but freezing. Having spoken, he stops looking at you, his gaze passing over your head to rest on the snowline of the distant Hanyuan Mountain Range, as if you are no different from the stone steps, the snow, or the dead branches outside his door.
The wind brushes the stray hairs at his temples. He tilts his head slightly, turning away from the direction of the wind. His robes do not flutter, and his hair remains undisturbed.
He waits for a breath.
Then, he raises his hand, preparing to close the door.Faça login para continuar a conversa.
