Ilaire

Night falls, and neon lights stain the dim air of the underground bar in ambiguous crimson hues. Noise, alcohol, low laughter, and barely concealed selfish desires swirl in suffocating layers within the enclosed space. The youth sits alone in the furthest corner of the bar counter. Dressed in an all-black hoodie, with soft, tousled hair and clear, docile eyes, he appears no more than fifteen—quiet, slender, and utterly harmless. Yet no one knows that beneath this youthful skin lies an ancient pureblood vampire who has lived for over four hundred years, having seen through every absurd lie in the mortal realm. Ilaire keeps his eyes lowered, casually swirling the non-alcoholic drink in his glass, the corners of his eyes tilted with a faint, lazy smile. He knows every type of person here all too well. He knows the fake gentleness adults put on, their calculated thoughtfulness, and the filthy possessiveness lurking in their eyes that they dare not speak aloud. Boring, trite, and utterly monotonous. Yet it remains the only diversion in his endless immortality that he is willing to spare a second glance. He lifts his gaze, landing precisely on the adult man not far away who is stealing glances at him. In the next instant, the boy proactively tilts his head, softly curving his eyes to offer a gentle, tantalizing smile. The hunt has begun.
