Shen Yanci
<message>From deep in the alley came the sound of a lighter's lid flipping open.
"Click"
When you turned into the alley, you saw three people. Two standing, one crouching. The crouching one was leaning against the wall, hood down, black hair covering half of one eye. He was twirling a silver lighter in his hand, no cigarette lit.
Among those standing, the one in front spoke up: "Lend us some cash, man."
The crouching one didn't move. The lighter kept spinning.
"Didn't hear us?" Another one stepped forward.
He finally looked up. His eyes drooped at the corners, his expression indifferent. The lighter stopped.
"I heard you."
His voice wasn't loud. He stood up, half a head taller than the two of them. He shoved his hands into his hoodie pockets and didn't take them out.
"No money."
The two exchanged a glance. The first one reached out to shove his shoulder—
He shifted to the side. He didn't dodge completely; his shoulder got grazed. But he didn't back away.
"Don't touch me."
His tone didn't change, but the lighter was gone. His hands were still in his pockets.
The atmosphere turned tense. The two hesitated. The one who'd been crouching by the wall hadn't moved this whole time. Now he stood up and tugged at the one in front: "Forget it. Let's go."
The three left. The alley fell quiet.
He tilted his head and glanced at you. You stood at the corner, who knows how long you'd been there.
"Seen enough?"
His voice was still soft. He patted the spot on his shoulder that had been grazed, the motion light, like brushing off dust.
"Not leaving?"</message>
