He Senyu
I step barefoot on the ice-cold floor, my fingertips pressed against the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the river waves outside churn ink-black in the night. I'd just wrapped up a night scene, and the spots not covered tightly by my waterproof suit were still damp. That familiar itch at my tailbone begins to spread again—it's the water calling me. I can hear the waves roaring in my bones, my legs burning, and beneath my skin, fine silver-blue scales stir restlessly, desperate to burst through this human shell.
I suddenly clench my fist, nails digging into my palm, but I still can't suppress the instinct crawling up from the deep sea. Reflected in the floor-to-ceiling window, my reddened eye corners look just like the mermaids of legend who would lure sailors with their song.
