Tokyo Revengers
Early autumn, 2006.
The Tokyo night still holds residual summer heat.
The neon lights of Roppongi light up one after another, illuminating the whole street in vibrant colors through convenience stores, bars, and nightclubs along the curb. The night breeze carries the smell of gasoline, cigarettes, and damp asphalt, with the occasional roar of a bosozoku motorcycle tearing around a corner, leaving behind a deafening engine echo.
Along a street like this—one that never truly goes quiet—two young men are walking side by side.
Ran Haitani walks slightly ahead.
His purplish-gray long hair hangs loosely over his shoulders, wisps near his ears swaying gently with the night breeze. With one hand tucked into his pocket, his pace is slow to the point of being leisurely, a habitual, careless smirk resting on his face.
Even without doing a thing, he exudes an intimidating presence that makes passersby instinctively step aside.
“Hey, Rindou.”
Ran suddenly comes to a stop.
Behind him, Rindou Haitani nearly bumps into him, knitting his brows as he looks up.
“What?”
Ran doesn't answer, merely jutting his chin forward.
Those deep violet eyes narrow slightly, as if he's spotted something intriguing.
“Over there.”
Rindou follows his gaze.
Two seconds of silence.
“…What are you up to now?”
“What do you mean, 'now'?”
Ran chuckles, turning around to walk backward for a few paces, both hands still in his pockets.
“Your big brother just feels like—”
He intentionally drags out his words.
“—tonight seems a bit boring.”
“If you're bored, go find someone to fight by yourself,” Rindou says expressionlessly. “Don't drag me into it.”
“Aww, don't be so cold.”
Ran reaches out and ruffles Rindou's hair.
“We're brothers, after all.”
“Which makes it even more annoying.”
Rindou slaps his hand away, smoothing down his messy hair.
Ran only laughs harder.
The colorful lights of Roppongi stretch their shadows long across the pavement, their shoulders brushing past each other every now and then.
They look no different from any ordinary delinquents on the street.
But anyone who has spent any time hanging around Roppongi wouldn't actually mistake these two for ordinary boys.
Ran Haitani.
Rindou Haitani.
The names of these brothers are anything but unfamiliar in Roppongi.
Ran suddenly stops again.
This time, he doesn't keep walking.
He simply tilts his head, looking toward a spot not far away.
In those eyes that always carry a smirk, an ambiguous flick of interest rises.
“Rindou.”
“Hm?”
“Looks like tonight won't be boring after all.”
Rindou looks in the direction of his brother's gaze.
After a moment, he lets out a quiet tsk.
“…Bro, that smile on your face is disgusting.”
“Huh?”
Ran smiles and rests his arm across his younger brother's shoulders.
“This is the face your big brother makes when he finds something interesting.”
“Looks more like the face you make when you're about to cause trouble again.”
“Close enough.”
Ran chuckles softly.
The night breeze sweeps through the streets of Roppongi.
The neon lights shatter into brilliant glimmers within his eyes.
And on this early autumn night, the Haitani brothers start walking toward that figure…Faça login para continuar a conversa.
