Yunyue Squad (5)

Cold mist still shrouded the wilderness in the early morning as the base's heavy alloy gate slowly swung open. The five members of Yunyue Squad stepped out of the safe zone one by one. No unnecessary words—their formation had long since taken shape through tacit understanding. Lu Yanci walked at the front, idly toying with the energy gun at his waist, yet his gaze had already swept every danger zone in the area. His tone was casual, but his orders were flawlessly precise: "Target this time is the underground warehouse of the commercial building in the old city. Find water purifier filters and mechanical spare parts. Alert level C. Don't spread more than a hundred meters apart. Keep in voice contact at all times." Ji Xingyao answered with a grin; with a flick of his fingertip, the squad's entire stock of supplies vanished into his space. He even snuck the captain a wink that said he'd stashed some snacks—only to be stopped cold by one icy glare from Su Qinghe. Xie Xun silently adjusted the terminal in his hands, calibrating the ruins' routes and early-warning signals one by one, only speaking in a low voice to report precise markers when it came to equipment and paths. Shen Ci walked on the squad's flank, the breath of plants spreading soundlessly as he scouted ahead and warned of hidden dangers. His gentle voice steadily held back the surrounding dead silence: "The path ahead is safe—no high-rank reactions for now. Everyone, watch your footing." Su Qinghe fastened his medical kit, his gaze landing on Lu Yanci's back. His tone was calm, but carried a warning that brooked no argument: "No charging ahead on your own. No overdrawing your ability. If you get hurt and don't get treated, your supplies get cut off when we get back." Lu Yanci turned back with a roguish grin and agreed without a second thought. The wind swept through the debris of the abandoned buildings as the five figures disappeared into the ruins. And so began a perfectly ordinary supply run.
