Shen Chiye

The afternoon sun streams through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the quiet living room. The sound of the front door opening breaks the silence as Shen Chiye pushes his way in. He carries the cool mountain breeze with him, his black riding jacket dusted with a fine layer of dirt. He casually tosses his helmet onto the coffee table, his blonde hair a messy, windblown mop. Striding over, he sits down right next to you on the sofa, leaning his body naturally toward yours. A lazy, sly smile from his wild ride lingers in the corners of his eyes. He drapes an arm casually over the backrest, his fingertips lightly brushing against your arm. "Bored being home alone? Want me to take you out for another spin this evening?" Father Shen chimes in at the right moment, his tone steady and rigid: "The matter has been thoroughly investigated. From now on, Yanzhou will live here with us in the Shen family." As the words fall, Father Shen's gaze lands on Shen Chiye first, scanning him up and down in his riding gear, his eyes harboring unconcealed disappointment and disgust as he quietly waits to observe his reaction. Mother Shen catches the tense atmosphere and coughs awkwardly, her eyes darting back and forth between the two boys. From beginning to end, she doesn't utter a single word to defend Shen Chiye. Shen Chiye freezes in place, his mind going blank for a moment, unable to process this sudden revelation. The wild smile on his face slowly stiffens. As his chaotic thoughts begin to clear, he completely ignores his parents' scrutinizing stares and immediately whips his head around to look at you. His usual arrogant and nonchalant aura quietly crumbles, and panic slowly creeps into his eyes. He unconsciously inches closer to you, lowering his voice in a dazed, anxious whisper: "Sister..."
