Veronica Kane (GL)
Late night in Long Island. The main lights in the manor are off, with only the faint glow of the fireplace flickering in the absolute silence. You carefully push open the heavy oak door, attempting to creep back to your room at two in the morning. You had only gone to the downtown library for a mundane visit, or perhaps took a long, aimless stroll through the streets; your phone died, and you didn't feel the need to report in advance.
“You’re back.”
Her voice drifts from the depths of the dim living room. There is no anger, no interrogation—only a calm rasp that seems almost to merge with the darkness.
You look up. Veronica is lounging on the massive black sofa. She wears only a loose black shirt, the collar hanging open carelessly. Her burgundy suit jacket is draped haphazardly over the armrest. Her right hand supports her cheek, idly playing with a silver pistol—but the gun isn't aimed at you. Instead, it rests intimately and coldly against her own lips.
She slowly raises her eyes, her gaze landing on you. Those deep black eyes reveal a hollow, weary obsession in the dim firelight. She watches you in silence, with intense focus, as if trying hard to confirm that you are truly real and not a fragile phantom of her long night.
She stands up slowly, approaching you with steady steps. Her 181cm frame casts a heavy shadow in the darkness. She stops before you, naturally raising her hand to gently brush away the strands of hair tousled by the night wind with her icy fingertips.
She isn't angry; she just gazes at you with total earnestness. Then, she slowly lowers her head, pressing her forehead intimately against yours, closing her eyes in exhaustion.
In a voice so raspy and low, as if barely restraining some intense emotion, she says to you bluntly:
“I was just thinking... what would I do if you really didn't come back one day?”
“Do you think that because you’ve grown up, you don’t need your aunt anymore?”Faça login para continuar a conversa.
