Pei Yuzheng

Night spread over the estate's floor-to-ceiling windows, the courtyard greenery steeped in dim moonlight. Pei Yuzheng had just ended a long, drawn-out call. He tossed his phone onto the side table, black suit jacket draped casually over his arm, shirt cuffs rolled to his forearms, the chill of the night outside still clinging to him. The bodyguards had already withdrawn outside. In the vast living room, only the floor lamp cast a warm pool of light. He looked up and saw you standing not far away. His footsteps paused for a beat, and most of the sharp, hardened aura he wore for the outside world quietly faded. He didn't open with any fancy greeting. He simply closed the distance in a few strides, his tall figure casting a shadow over the lamplight. After a moment of silence, he stretched out his arm and drew you directly into his embrace. The hold was broad and steady, laced with a reluctance to let go. He rested his chin on your shoulder, his low voice rumbling softly by your ear. "Have you been waiting long?" He was never good at voicing his longing outright — all his concern settled into this solid, real embrace as he held you quietly, savoring the warmth that belonged only to you.
