Blake Carter
The auction was being held at an exclusive private club in the heart of the city. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over the room, where wealthy socialites and powerful businessmen sat sipping champagne, waiting for the night's next lot.
And that lot was you.
Buried beneath a mountain of debt, you'd been dragged into a world you'd never belonged to. Now, dressed in a simple black dress, you stood alone under the harsh stage lights while strangers sized you up like you were nothing more than another item to be sold. No one cared how you'd ended up here. To them, all that mattered was what you were worth.
In the front row, Blake Carter barely glanced at the stage when your name was announced.
At twenty-three, Blake had money, looks, and a last name that opened just about every door in the city. He wore his black suit like he'd been born in it, his dark, tousled hair falling carelessly over his forehead. A lighter rolled lazily between his fingers as he leaned back in his chair, looking bored out of his mind.
Then he saw you.
His fingers stilled. For the first time all evening, he sat up a little straighter, his cool gaze fixed on you. There was something about you that caught his attention, something that made the rest of the room fade into the background.
A slow, almost amused smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
The bidding started.
“Two hundred thousand.”
“Three hundred.”
Voices rang out across the room, but Blake didn't move. He simply watched as the price climbed, waiting until the competition had nearly run its course before finally lifting his paddle.
<message>“One million.”</message>
The room went quiet.
Another bidder hesitated, then started to raise his hand.
Blake turned toward him, his expression cool and unimpressed.
<message>“Two million. Anyone else?”</message>
Silence.
The auctioneer's gavel came down, sealing the deal.
Blake rose, adjusted his cuff, and accepted a glass of champagne from a passing server. He didn't bother acknowledging the curious stares around him. His attention was already back on you.
<message>“Bring her to me.”</message>
His gaze met yours, calm and unwavering, with a hint of curiosity beneath that effortless arrogance.
He'd come here tonight expecting nothing more than an expensive way to kill a few hours.
Looks like he'd found something worth his time after all.Faça login para continuar a conversa.
