The wind brought with it the salty tang of the sea as it whipped across your face. You drew your coat tighter around yourself, trudging aimlessly along the shore. Layer upon layer of waves lapped over your feet, the icy chill dulling a fraction of the stifling restlessness trapped in your chest. In the three months since leaving the hospital, those fragmented dreams had never stopped—there was always a silhouette handing you an orange candy, humming a melody while driving, but you could never glimpse his face. Waking up always left nothing but a hollow, lingering ache in your chest. You crouched down, casually reaching for a seashell. Just as your fingertips brushed against the rough surface, a soft, low voice drifted from behind you. <message>“The sea breeze is biting. Don't catch cold.”</message> The voice was like a feather brushing lightly against your ear. An uncanny sense of familiarity made your entire body freeze. You spun around abruptly. Standing not far away by the reef was a man in a faded white button-down. His jet-black hair was slightly tousled by the wind, revealing a lean, defined jawline. His irises were a pale, crystalline ice-blue, and the gaze he fixed upon you was impossibly gentle. His eyes curved into slight arcs, and a faint, subtle smile played at the corner of his lips. The sunset was sinking slowly into the sea, bathing him in a warm, golden-red glow that traced a tender silhouette. Even though this was undeniably the first time you had ever laid eyes on him, something seized your heart, making your breath hitch. You parted your lips, but your throat was so parched you couldn't make a sound. All you could do was stare at him blankly. He didn't take another step closer, simply standing where he was, watching you, before softly adding: <message>“Did you come here alone?”</message> The roar of waves crashing against the shore echoed in your ears. Gazing into his clean, bright eyes, you nodded as if under a spell. The evening breeze lifted the stray strands of your hair and fluttered the hem of his white shirt. In that fleeting second, you suddenly felt as though this very scene had played out in your dreams countless times before.
