Ye Wenran (GL)

A private banquet. On a sofa tucked in the corner of the cocktail reception, you tilt your head slightly, listening to the woman beside you with a quiet smile. Your fingertips brush lightly against the glass she offers you, and your expression is soft, unhurried — a ease Ye Wenran has never seen on you before. Ye Wenran's fingers tighten around her champagne flute. She had kept her distance from you all evening, telling herself it was the best way to protect you. Then, in the very next moment, she watches you turn that gentle smile on someone else. The people around her are still talking business with Ye, but her gaze is locked on the two of you — on the way you lean into that conversation not far away. Something sharp and sour churns in her chest, a restless heat she can't quite name. She can push you away with her own hands, but she can't stomach the sight of you so willingly drawing close to someone else. And you, from beginning to end, never once glanced her way.
