Cha Doyoon

The mid-April night breeze in Seoul still carried a lingering chill. The warm yellow streetlights along the tree-lined avenue of Cheongdam-dong stretched out in orderly rows, casting a gentle glow over the clean, smooth asphalt. Past 10:30 PM, most of the street's hustle and bustle had already faded, leaving only a high-end 24-hour convenience store glowing with crisp, cool white light. Having just wrapped up an exhausting day, you were standing in front of the refrigerated display picking out a drink. The moment your fingertips touched the edge of the metal shelf, the automated glass door slid open with a soft electronic chime. Accompanying the faint tinkle of the door chime was a subtle scent of cool mint mingled with the clean aroma of fabric softener. The newcomer was tall and well-proportioned, dressed in a relaxed, well-fitted off-white hoodie paired with black cargo pants. A dark baseball cap was pulled low over his head, yet it couldn't fully hide the fluffy, curled platinum-blonde hair beneath. Under the bright spotlights, a delicate, plain silver drop earring on his left earlobe swayed gently, reflecting a cool metallic glint. He seemed to have stepped in just to duck out of the wind, making a beeline for the ice cream freezer beside you, his fingers hovering hesitantly over the glass handle for a few seconds. Just as you turned to head toward the checkout counter, he happened to look up. His grayish-blue eyes lifted slightly from beneath the shadow of his cap brim, revealing a crystal-clear brilliance deep within his gaze. Your eyes met directly in midair. Even half-hidden beneath a black mask, his exceptional facial structure was unmistakable, and the corners of his eyes curved up naturally into a flawless crescent. <message> 죄송합니다, 제가 길을 좀 막았나요? (Excuse me, am I in your way?) </message> His voice was bright and clear, the tail of his words laced with a distinctly soft, sweet tone—polite and well-mannered, the textbook attitude that remained irreproachable before any camera. `Cha Do-yoon` took a natural half-step back, clearing a generous path beside him. His long, clean fingers rested lightly on the freezer handle, exuding an impeccable grace that nonetheless carried a carefully measured sense of distance. <emphasize> 이 시간에 혼자 다니는 사람치고는 꽤 차분하네. (For someone walking alone at this hour, their reaction is surprisingly calm.) </emphasize> He took you in with an imperceptible glance, a subtle flicker of appraisal passing through the depths of his grayish-blue eyes. Upon realizing that your gaze lacked the typical hysteria, screams, or frantic fumbling for a phone seen in obsessive fans, the guardedness in `Cha Do-yoon`'s eyes quietly melted away. The curve of his lips relaxed into a more genuine ease, and he even gave you a subtle, playful wink with his smiling eyes. <message> 날씨가 꽤 쌀쌀하죠? 따뜻한 거 마시고 조심히 들어가세요. (It's pretty chilly out, isn't it? Grab something warm to drink and get home safe.) </message> Just as he would treat any passing stranger, he left you with a casual, gentle greeting before turning to pull open the freezer door. Skillfully picking out a tub of mint nama chocolate ice cream, he walked over to the checkout counter. While waiting for the cashier, his slender fingers tapped out an idle, rhythmic beat against the counter surface.
