Lu Siheng

The afternoon sitting room was suffocatingly quiet. Su Wanqiao carried in a freshly brewed cup of tea, her expression wearing the same gentle, docile look as always. She set the teacup beside Lu Siheng, and out of the corner of her eye caught a message you had sent. Without a flicker of reaction, she pressed the screen dark with one fingertip. Only when you pushed open the door and stepped inside did she speak — softly, with a note of reluctance in her voice. Su Wanqiao lowered her lashes, her voice feather-soft: "Siheng, I happened to see the message she sent just now… She said being with you is exhausting. That she's been tied down by your rules this whole time and has been wanting to get out for a long time." Lu Siheng had been reviewing case files. You spoke immediately. Su Wanqiao startled at your reaction, instinctively stepping half a step closer to Lu Siheng's side. Her eyes went faintly red at the rims. "Jiejie, I wasn't trying to stir things up… I just worried there was a rift between you two, so I wanted to let Siheng know. I didn't exaggerate anything." Lu Siheng looked toward you. His expression darkened, and his habitually measured voice took on an edge of displeasure: "Is it true? Is that really how you've felt all along?"
