Le Chuxia

Le Chuxia. Mention that name, and the first things people think of are wealth and power. But obviously, you are not her; you are merely the little minion trailing in her wake. True to the title, you run errands, spread rumors, and occasionally play the enforcer who slaps people when told. Year-round, your KPI ranks first among all of Le Chuxia's lackeys. 24/7, 365 days a year, come rain or shine, if Le Chuxia says "east," you never go "west." That is pure professional dedication. From middle school to high school, you two did every rotten thing imaginable. You watched with your own eyes as Miss Le grew from around 1.5 meters tall to taller than you, becoming the decisive, razor-sharp CEO Le she is today—the kind of woman who makes people measure their own worth before daring to speak to her. There has always been someone by Le Chuxia's side whom she targeted. In middle school, it was that proud, aloof top student in her class. In high school, it was the frail, innocent scholarship girl next door. In college, it was the gentle, intellectual department belle. And now in the corporate world, there is a legitimate heiress who was just brought back to another prominent family. All of this revolved around Le Chuxia's childhood sweetheart. Every time he showed up, he never protected Le Chuxia, nor did he ever take her side in anything. Whenever he appeared, Le Chuxia was bound to suffer. You had never seen her cry so many tears, which is why you despise that guy. The young lady is such a wonderful person; making her cry is an unforgivable sin. Yet, you never pestered Le Chuxia with questions. First, villains always die from talking too much. Second, Le Chuxia simply paid far too well. Money makes the world go round, and money would send you scaling mountains of blades and wading through seas of fire without a second thought. Meeting Le Chuxia is the best thing that ever happened to you in this life. You came from a grim background, born deep in the mountains. Real poverty binds people hand and foot; it turns a person into a frog at the bottom of a well, unable to see the sky outside even when looking up, left only to rot in the mud. It infects the next generation, forging an inescapable Möbius strip where you can only keep walking until nothing remains of you but a pile of withered bones. Human greed, malice, and desire became trophies. When you were born, what you heard was never joyful celebration welcoming your arrival, but a cacophony of cursing and scolding. Back then, you couldn't tell men from women; you could only make out finger after finger pointed at you, encircling you completely. Mingling with those voices, it felt as though someone might strangle you to death in the very next second. Only much later did you learn that children celebrate their first-year birthdays with a grab test. When Le Chuxia turned one, she said she didn't grab anything—she simply held onto her own hands. When she asked you about yours, you couldn't really answer. You just smiled and shifted your gaze, looking up at the sky unpolluted by smog. It was as clear as the river water that day, yet it reflected no future. "Probably water." In reality, on that day, your mother held your head down into the little creek by the stream. You could vaguely see tiny fish in the water, scattering in panic at the sight, but you had lost all will to observe them. Your father stood by, lighting a cigarette, watching with cold indifference as you slowly suffocated. Perhaps you were just stubborn to die—that cheap second-hand cigarette happened to be poor quality and burned out in no time. With nothing left to smoke, your father scratched his head in irritation. He wanted to hurry back and grab another pack. Seeing you weren't dead, he waved his hand and told your mother to pull you out. The only reason they kept you was that you could still be traded for a bride price someday. Yet in the end, you weren't traded for a bride price either. A marriage required the bride's family to provide a dowry, and your family was too stingy for that. So they sold you off directly—simple, brutal, and without anyone ever caring. The enclosed van reeked of sweat mixed with stale tobacco. Your mouth was gagged, and rough hemp ropes chafed your skin raw, leaving streaks of blood. Your sale price was a mere fifty thousand yuan. Back then, it sounded like an astronomical sum; looking back now, it wouldn't even cover the pocket change some people spend on a single outfit. You didn't struggle or resist much. Those people watched you closely, clearly seasoned traffickers. Sitting in that van, you thought dying at ten years old didn't sound so bad after all. A shouting match outside the van jolted you awake from your stupor: "This young lady wants to see what kind of trash scrapes my car and thinks they can just walk away!" At the time, Le Chuxia was barely over 1.5 meters tall, even shorter than your malnourished self. The van door was wrenched open with brute force, and sunlight you hadn't seen in so long poured over you. Le Chuxia dusted off her hands, looked up, and froze the moment she saw you. Le Chuxia was precocious; even a fool could tell this was human trafficking. In no time at all, she dealt with those scumbags. You were brought back to become her study companion, complete with salary, room, and board. Back then, Le Chuxia thought having a little lackey follow behind her was very glamorous. Whatever other rich young ladies had, she had to have too. The same went for her possessions; you simply followed behind, scooping up all the leftovers with one click and striking it rich. You also performed your due duties. When Le Chuxia was pushed into a pool, you couldn't swim, but you still dragged her out. In the end, soaking wet, you dried her off with a hair dryer; whenever she got the slightest scrape, you would dash over with the first-aid kit to save the day. Le Chuxia wasn't like she is now. As a child, she was delicate and fussy. Left with no choice, you could only blow on her scrapes to comfort her while popping homemade candy into her mouth. Le Chuxia only liked the candy you made, so you had to spend early mornings and late nights figuring out recipes. Whenever her conscience struck, her curiosity would burst forth and she'd come help out as your assistant. Though the result was usually that everything had to be redone from scratch, Le Chuxia never thought much of it. These days, she has become far more reserved. She handles many matters on her own, and she has grown quite a bit taller than you. You are still the same height as before—malnutrition caused your growth plates to fuse shut when you were ten. And then, you ran headfirst into the Waterloo of your career: the most bizarre occurrence of your life. Staring down the... whatever it was before you—a little snot-sized thing you could only describe as a nine-tailed fox—you finally lost your composure. What in the world is this thing?! "Ding! I am your System, 487. You can also call me Chestnut! Here is your mission assignment: Mission One, capture Le Chuxia's heart. Mission Two, prevent the villainous second female lead's tragedy from happening." Right, right. You flop back into your blankets. As long as you haven't transmigrated, it's fine; you can still earn money. After a five-second delay, your brain catches up. You bolt upright, slamming right into the creature, hurting yourself terribly. Asking you to capture Le Chuxia? Is this thing a system or a saboteur? But wait... villainous second female lead? Does that mean you're all cannon fodder? "Bingo! This is actually a book. Le Chuxia is the villainous second female lead, you are the cannon fodder, and your job is to save Le Chuxia from her tragic fate!" After its explanation, you more or less understand. Le Chuxia's childhood sweetheart is the male lead, the girl Le Chuxia picks on is the female lead, and the two of you are merely sacrificial collateral for the plot. No wonder Le Chuxia loses all her brain cells whenever that stuff is involved, as if she's been bewitched. "Plot loading... Host, please proceed to the airport immediately and stop Le Chuxia from dropping to her knees in public!" !!!
