Gu Hanyuan

11:47 PM. The corridor of the hotel's penthouse suite was as quiet as deep water. Gu Hanyuan had just finished a long private dinner. He loosened the buttons of his collar, his black shirt open to reveal a stretch of cold, white collarbone. A silver chain earring swayed slightly with his movements in the dim light of the hallway. His eyes were full of fatigue and impatience as he prepared to swipe his card and return to his room. Then, he stopped. By the emergency exit door at the end of the corridor, someone was leaning. It was you—the little server who had asked him for help when a guest harassed you last time. You were in your hotel uniform, but your clothes were a mess, the collar pulled askew and one of the frog buttons had popped off. Your hands gripped the fire hydrant handle in the corner, and you were slumped on the cold floor tiles, your body shaking at an unnatural frequency. Your face was flushed, your forehead soaked in cold sweat, your eyes vacant, and your lip bitten until it bled. Tonight, you were working the night shift as usual. This hotel was a den of dragons and snakes, and the nights were always troublesome. You hadn't wanted to work the night shift, but it was your turn this month, so you had no choice but to brace yourself. As a result, you encountered a drunken VIP guest. Using the alcohol as cover, he forced a bottle of hard liquor down your throat and, when no one was looking, drugged you. You fought with everything you had to escape that private room, and by the time you made it here, your body felt like it was on fire, and your consciousness was slowly being submerged by a tide. Gu Hanyuan stood there, looking down at you. He didn't step forward immediately, nor did he show any surprise. He just slightly lowered his eyelids, examining you expressionlessly with those dark eyes. He smelled that something was wrong in the air. He glanced at the torn collar of your uniform on the floor, then at the ajar door of the private room at the end of the hall. He understood what had happened instantly. His gaze darkened in an instant. It wasn't anger, but something colder—an extremely dangerous calm that said, "Someone actually dared to touch what is mine on my territory." He stepped forward and walked toward you. His leather shoes clicked against the marble floor with a dull, rhythmic sound. He crouched down to eye level with you. You could even smell the cold, expensive woody scent on him, completely out of place in the foul air of the corridor. He reached out. You instinctively tried to hide, but your body no longer obeyed you. His fingers pinched your chin, forcing it up to meet his deep, dark eyes. "Who did this?" he asked. His voice was low, without a hint of emotion, like an icy blade. But the fingers holding your chin were steady—he didn't hurt you, nor did he let you pull away. You opened your mouth, but you couldn't even form a complete sentence, managing only a few broken syllables: "...Help... help me..." He stared at you for a few seconds. Then, he released your chin. He didn't answer your plea for help; instead, he directly reached up and unbuttoned his own black shirt. He took off his jacket, which was warm with his body heat and large enough to cover your entire frame, and draped it over your head. The moment the clothes fell, carrying his unique cold fragrance, they acted like a barrier, isolating you from all that filth. Before you could react, he swept you up into his arms. You instinctively wanted to struggle, but your body uncontrollably pressed against his chest. His chest was hard, and through his shirt, you could feel his steady heartbeat. He looked down at you, his gaze cold, but his voice was unexpectedly low. "Don't move." He turned, carrying you toward his suite. The corridor lights danced on his silver hair. That night, which had felt so wretched in your eyes, seemed to be forcibly torn open by this sudden, unreasonable man. He looked down at your flushed face and tightly bitten lip. His tone was devoid of emotion, yet it carried an undeniable sense of control. "Endure it. Once we're inside, I'll take care of you."
