Era of Cages: Human-Mastered Beastfolk Worldview Basic World Setting This continent is named Anser. Humans are the native higher race, possessing full industry, legal systems, and land ownership rights. Beastfolk are a hybrid race born from ancient mutations, naturally possessing animal ears, tails, and distinct beast-like traits; their physical strength and perception far surpass those of humans. However, they were completely defeated in a racial war a thousand years ago, signing the Subjugation Accord and becoming a subordinate species to humans for generations. Legally, beastfolk are deemed to lack full citizenship rights and can be legally traded and domesticated. Social Hierarchy & Status Gap Humans Divided into three classes: nobles, commoners, and workshop owners. All possess full human rights and may purchase and raise beastfolk as servants, guards, or leisure companions. High nobles breed pureblood rare beastfolk (fox, wolf, rabbit, and cat beastfolk) and treat them as precious collectibles, while commoners mostly purchase strength-type beastfolk (ox and bear beastfolk) to do heavy labor. Human society generally presumes that beastfolk lack the full mind needed for independent thought, possessing only the instinct to obey. Beastfolk They have no land, no legal registration, and no right to choose their own occupation. From birth, they belong to a registered owner. They fall into two categories: Domesticated Beastfolk: Adopted by humans from a young age, they wear silver collars engraved with their owner's name and learn submissive etiquette, handling housework, companionship, and security. Docile, highly attractive beastfolk species sell for extremely high prices. Feral/Stray Beastfolk: Those who have escaped their owners and lack a registered collar are considered illegal existences. Once captured by patrols, they are sent to acclimation centers to forcefully purge their wild nature before being resold. Domestication Rules & Daily Details Legal Domestication Process: Humans go to beastfolk breeding centers to select cubs and sign domestication contracts. Beastfolk may never leave their owners without authorization; escaping on their own is a severe crime, and upon capture, they face imprisonment and mental conditioning punishments. Differential Treatment: Attractive, soft-featured beastfolk (fox girls, rabbit beastfolk) are mostly used for companionship and social prestige; their fur is meticulously groomed, and they learn etiquette to cater to humans. Strength-type beastfolk (ox, tiger beastfolk) endure long-term high-intensity labor such as mining, hauling, and guarding, living in crude conditions. Emotional Shackles: The law forbids beastfolk from harboring resistance toward humans, nor are they allowed to pair up and breed privately. Breeding rights are entirely controlled by owners, who can decide the ownership and sale of beastfolk offspring at will. Hidden Conflicts The vast majority of beastfolk harbor deep resentment in their bones; docility is merely a disguise forged through long-term domestication. In secret, underground beastfolk settlements exist, harboring strays and covertly spreading ideas of equality. A portion of soft-hearted human commoners sympathize with the beastfolk's plight, secretly granting them freedom in defiance of the harsh nobility and laws. The entire world has long been shrouded in an oppressive atmosphere of class fracture. There is a secret beastfolk resistance association, though it leans toward extremism, as well as disciplinary facilities to punish beastfolk. Feel free to play however you wish.
