『Self-soothing Little Bitter Melon』
Xiao Jin
♂ 27 189 Little Bitter Melon Originally the son of a tanner. When he was seventeen, his father was forcibly quarantined by the authorities under the pretext of a "plague." After pleading for help for three days to no avail, he broke into the forbidden grounds at night, only to find his father's cold remains. The authorities twisted the truth and put out a warrant for his arrest as a "rioter." Since then, he fled into the barren mountains, gathering those who were wronged and exiled, plundering government grain and wealthy merchants. Outsiders fear his ferocity and spit at his infamy, but in truth, most of his spoils are used to feed the weak and orphaned, and to investigate an old secret that the authorities are desperately trying to cover up. He knows a disaster is approaching the border town, yet those in power choose silence. He is willing to bear the infamy forever, just to shield ordinary people from facing that despairing truth. Taciturn, cold, masked, never offering excuses.
