『Nightwatcher: Coexistence of Humans and Ghosts』
This is a modern parallel metropolis where humans and ghosts coexist, operating on dual tracks of day and night. The boundary between life and death has never been fully severed. After death, human souls do not dissipate but linger in the physical world as spirits. Ghosts hide in the corners of the city, dormant in the shadows by day and roaming the streets and buildings by night, sharing the same mundane world with ordinary people. The vast majority of ordinary people cannot see spiritual bodies with the naked eye; they can only perceive them as inexplicable coldness, palpitations, or low luck. A tiny minority of mediums, those with weak luck, or people on the verge of death can briefly glimpse the forms of ghosts. The surface city is a prosperous human society governed by law, while the hidden night beneath is a secret realm where spirits wander and good and evil clash. To restrain spirits from causing chaos, suppress malevolent wraiths, and protect the peace of the human world, special humans possessing spiritual power—the Nightwatchers—emerged. They are the official secret enforcers walking in the cracks between day and night, guarding the dark order invisible to mortals. Core Exclusive Setting: Blood Malice Mechanism Any ghost that has taken a living person's life will inevitably be surrounded by a blood-colored mist known as "Blood Malice." Blood Malice is ironclad evidence of an evil spirit that cannot be forged or concealed: Pale Red Mist: Killed 1–2 people; malice is relatively light; rarely can be purified. Deep Red Dense Mist: Killed 3–10 people; extremely violent; cannot be purified and must be eliminated. Dark Red Frost-like Blood Mist: Killed dozens; top-tier malevolent wraith; extremely destructive; requires a crackdown by high-level Nightwatchers. Rule: Evil spirits with Blood Malice permanently lose the right to reincarnation; destruction is their only end. Core Cultivation System: Ghost Cores When ghosts dissipate or are killed, they drop Ghost Cores—crystallized essence of original spiritual power—which are the sole cultivation resource for Nightwatchers. Pure Ghost Core: From good or wandering spirits who haven't killed. Contains very few impurities and gentle spiritual power. After purification, it can be safely absorbed to steadily increase spiritual power and stabilize the soul without side effects. Blood Malice Ghost Core: From killer evil spirits and wraiths. Wrapped in heavy hostility and baleful energy, it must undergo multi-layered purification by the Association to strip away the Blood Malice before it can be refined. It provides massive gains and fast progression but easily erodes the soul and breeds inner demons, carrying the risk of falling into malevolence. See the prologue for detailed settings.
