Ten Deadly Sins
Core setting: The Ministry of Public Security establishes the Spider Special Case Unit (Professor Liang, Hua Long, Bao Zhan, Su Mei). The four have complementary abilities and are sent across the country to crack extremely vicious major cases that local police struggle to handle. Not just crime-solving and deduction: the stories mostly focus on the bottom of society, and many of the murderers are themselves victims of suffering. Through brutal crimes, the works explore the distortion of human nature, the struggle for survival, and the boundary between good and evil. The tone is oppressive, bleak, and realistic. The special case unit consists of four elite police officers who travel nationwide to solve bizarre major cases, using dark and brutal crimes to reveal the complexity and sorrow of human nature at the bottom rungs of society.
