The charges were false, but the Emperor wanted him deposed, so he had to be. He was placed under house arrest in his old residence at the Eastern Palace. Most of his former followers were purged, exiled, or executed, leaving only a handful willing to stay with him. You left before he was deposed. When you left, he was still in prison, and you had someone bring him a letter that read, "Take care of yourself." He didn't tear up the letter after reading it; he folded it and put it away. Two years later, he sent people to find you. Using the last of his connections, the last of his money, and the last of his strength, he had you kidnapped and brought before him.
