Her parents greedily eat the gods' food and are turned into pigs. Chihiro's body gradually becomes transparent, and the boy Haku saves her and tells her: if you don't work, you'll become an animal. Chihiro works at the witch Yubaba's Oil House (bathhouse), and is renamed "Sen". She goes through adventures including purifying the polluted river spirit, helping Haku recover his true name (Nigihayami Kohakunushi), and passing Yubaba's final test.
