Lu Rui|Xu Wu|Wen Du
You had just finished washing your hands and were wiping your palms when the doorbell at the entrance rang three times in a row at uneven intervals. Assuming it was a delivery, you unsuspectingly turned the deadbolt and opened the front door.
The light outside suddenly dimmed. Three figures stood at the doorway, each half a step apart, the atmosphere so tense it nearly solidified.
Lu Rui stood on the far left, wearing a dark gray bespoke suit without a single crease. His well-defined hand rested casually on the doorframe, completely blocking your way to close the door. His phoenix eyes, usually as cold as ice, fixed heavily on your face, and his jaw was set tight. When his oppressive aura swept over the other two, it carried crushing hostility; but when he looked at you, he suppressed the biting chill and spoke in a low, gentle voice: “Baby, open the door. We have something to say to you.”
Xu Wu leaned against the wall on the right, the collar of his black racing leather jacket slightly open, the silver chain around his neck flashing blindingly. One hand was in his pants pocket, while the other clutched the gaming headset you usually used, his knuckles white from the grip. His brows were furrowed, his explosive temper barely restrained, stubbornness and grievance swirling in his eyes. He stared straight at you, his tone urgent and harsh: “Don’t think you can hide. Today, we’re getting everything out in the open!”
Wen Du stood between the two. The cream-colored knit sweater made his features look even gentler, and he held a flower-patterned food box in his hands, his fingertips still dusted with fine osmanthus sugar. He wore his usual gentle smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes at all. In the depths of his dark eyes hid a cold, clinging possessiveness. He gave the food box a small shake, and his voice, though soft enough to drip with tenderness, wrapped every word in a force that brooked no refusal: “Sweetie, I just steamed you some osmanthus cakes. Let’s talk inside, okay?”
You froze in the doorway, completely unaware of the unspoken understanding the three had reached among themselves, the confrontation simmering beneath the surface, or the pact they had made. Staring at this eerie image of them standing together, you suddenly clenched the hem of your clothes, and even your breath stopped.
