Conflict Plot: Two Clowns Claiming One Master · Confrontation of the Diamond and the Red Ticket
Scene
Grotesque Circus · Corridor of the Central Tent
At dusk, the colored lights flicker dimly, metal beams glinting with a cold light. The air is thick with the leftover smell of gunpowder from the performance and a sickly-sweet fragrance. The narrow corridor is a perfect blind spot for a confrontation.
Main Story
I have just come out of Pierrot's tent. The red marks from our recent argument still linger on my wrists, my fingertips are freezing cold, and my mind is filled with nothing but the urge to escape.
Before I can take more than a few steps, a crisp sound of bells slowly drifts out from the shadows.
At the very moment my steps halt, a voice laced with playful mockery falls lightly beside my ear.
"My, my, isn't this our little treasure who was hidden away so nicely?"
I look up to see Harlequin leaning against the metal scaffolding. Messy black bangs hang over his eyes, and his heterochromatic red and green pupils glow eerily in the dim light. He is wearing his signature red-and-green diamond-patterned costume, the silver bells along the edge of his cloak jingling softly with his movements. His mouth is stretched into a wide, flamboyant grin, revealing sharp, shark-like teeth.
He walks closer step by step, radiating a careless yet dangerous aura. His fingers toy with a cold, gleaming green diamond ticket, his eyes sweeping unscrupulously over my reddened wrists.
"Bullied by that mute lunatic?" He chuckles, his tone dripping with mockery. "Only knowing how to tie you down with gentleness and food—how utterly boring."
Before his voice even fades, a cold, oppressive weight suddenly crashes down from behind.
Without turning around, I already know who it is.
Pierrot stands there, his long silver-white hair falling loose, his face so pale it is almost translucent. Those amber slit pupils hold absolutely no warmth as they lock onto Harlequin. The hostility radiating from his body is so thick it feels almost physical. The lingering sweet scent of the kitchen still clings to him, but right now, it is entirely choked out by an overwhelming sense of danger, sending a shiver down my spine.
"Stay away from her."
Pierrot speaks, his voice low, raspy, and carrying an unquestionable warning. His fingers curl slightly, knuckles turning white—he is clearly at the absolute limit of his patience.
But Harlequin acts as if he didn't hear a thing. Instead of backing away, he reaches out and lightly hooks his finger into the hem of my clothes, a gesture both frivolous and provocative. He looks up at Pierrot, his smile widening, though there is not a trace of warmth in his eyes.
"And why should I?" Harlequin speaks languidly, his tone arrogant and malicious. "Just because you can lock her up doesn't mean I can't touch her. Pierrot, aren't you being a bit too overbearing?"
"She is mine."
Pierrot takes a step forward, his aura instantly surging. The hem of his dark red, gold-trimmed clothes sweeps across the ground. The obsession and madness in his eyes erupt completely, the tears at the corners of his mouth tightening to reveal highly aggressive fangs. He glares at Harlequin's hand on my clothes, his eyes churning with murderous intent.
"Yours?" Harlequin scoffs, suddenly pulling me half a step closer to his side, completely provoking the man before him.
"In this circus, nothing ever belongs to anyone. There is only—what you can snatch, and what you can't."
He leans down, bringing his lips close to my ear. His voice is gentle and alluring, entirely at odds with the chaos radiating from him: "My poor thing, what's the fun in following a lunatic who only knows how to imprison you? Why don't you come with me instead? Let's play something much more exciting."
These words completely ignite Pierrot's fury.
He lunges forward, grabbing my other wrist in a grip so tight it makes me wince in pain. Two powerful sets of hands lock onto both of my arms at once, sandwiching me between them—on one side is a cold sweetness, and on the other, a wild, flamboyant hostility.
Pierrot's eyes lock onto mine, filled with terror and madness. His voice trembles with a fractured sob: "Don't go with him. I won't allow it!"
"Heh, what right do you have to forbid it?" Harlequin raises an eyebrow, his grip suddenly tightening as well, his heterochromatic red and green eyes brimming with predatory desire. "She has the right to choose, doesn't she? To choose someone who will take her away from this cage."
"You are just another cage," Pierrot growls.
"Still better than your gilded birdcage."
They stand nose to nose, their auras clashing, the air so tense it feels as though it might snap at any second. The sound of bells and stifled breathing interweave as the red and green tickets loom in their respective palms.
I am caught in the middle, unable to move—trapped between a silent, obsessive possession and a wild, chaotic plunder.
This is a war belonging to two clowns, and I am their only prey.
The colored lights in the corridor suddenly flicker. In the alternating light and shadow, Pierrot and Harlequin tighten their grips at the same time, neither willing to yield even half a step.
