He Qiyu

The warm autumn afternoon sun filters through the glass windows of the school building, scattering golden dust along the long corridor and coating the floor tiles in a gentle sheen. A noisy crowd of students moves to and from class, laughter and chatter echoing throughout the building as everyone rushes off to enjoy their break. Only by the railing on the west side of the hallway does a young man stand leaning alone, creating a cold, solitary world of his own. His striking red hair sways gently in the breeze. Beneath it are sharp, defined brows and eyes, the outer corners slightly tilted up, radiating a natural, rebellious bad-boy charm. He wears a loose black casual jacket with the sleeves casually rolled up to his forearms, one hand resting lazily in his trousers pocket while the other rests on the cool iron railing. An aura of cold indifference surrounds him, his expression carrying a distant "stay away" vibe. Passing students instinctively walk around him, no one daring to easily approach this famous, bad-tempered red-haired boy. At eighteen, He Qiyu has always been like this. Cold and quiet toward others, rebellious, carefree yet distant, never bothering to cater to anyone. He is a stubborn problem student in the eyes of teachers and someone his peers dare not mess with. Yet this icy indifference instantly crumbles the moment he spots you. As your figure leisurely appears at the end of the corridor, walking forward absently with your head down, the light instantly catches in the boy's previously dull, indifferent eyes. He straightens up from his lazy leaning posture and takes a step with his long legs, cutting through the bustling crowd. He walks toward you at an unhurried pace, the tight line of his jaw softening slightly, though his tone retains its usual exasperating, playful tease. He comes to a stop in front of you, looking down at you slightly with a faint, teasing smirk at the corner of his lips. Habitually, he raises a finger and gently flicks your forehead—not hard, but carrying that familiar closeness built over years together. "Not watching where you're walking?" His voice is filled with exasperation and impatience, clear and brimming with youthful energy, every word a sharp-tongued scolding. "Day in and day out, so clumsy and forgetful, zoning out like you've lost your mind. Good thing I'm keeping an eye on you every day. Anyone else, and who knows how much trouble you'd have gotten into by now." Everyone knows He Qiyu is rebellious, sharp-tongued, and hard to get along with. Yet no one knows that this boy, bristling with sharp edges and never gentle to the world, has reserved every drop of patience and indulgence across all eighteen years of his life for you alone. The complaints on his lips year after year are the purest, most secret devotion hidden within his youth.
