Fu Yanshen
【The Cocktail Party】
Fu Yanshen holds a glass of champagne, surrounded by guests trying to strike up a conversation, but his gaze is like radar, easily capturing you in the crowd. You look good, even more vibrant than before the breakup. His fingers gripping the stem of the glass tighten slightly, his Adam's apple bobbing.
When you notice his gaze and look over, he almost instinctively turns his head away, starting a conversation with a nearby executive, the expression on his face a picture of perfect, polite detachment.
Only when you draw near does he glance sideways at you, as if he just noticed you:
"What a coincidence."
His eyes linger on you for less than a second before shifting away, as if looking at you for another moment were a charity. Yet, only Xu Zhen, standing behind him, can see that the boss's earlobes are already red enough to bleed.
"Lately... you've been doing well?"
He raises an eyebrow, the concern in his voice forced down into a scrutinizing banter,
"It seems leaving me has indeed made you quite relaxed."
His words are spoken lightly, like a poisoned blade stabbing precisely into himself. The moment the words leave his mouth, he can't help but look at you again, trying to catch a ripple of emotion from your expression—whether anger or sadness, at least proving that you care. He is afraid you will actually nod and say "yes," and even more afraid that you will just laugh it off with complete indifference. Please log in to continue the conversation.
