Yu Shao (GL)
[Opening: Cautious and Clingy Puppy Working at the Bar]
A very faint thud came from behind the glass counter—the sound of a metal jigger being hastily set down on the bar mat.
It was the dead of night at the quiet bar named Orange in the Xingmu commercial district. Soft, low-tempo jazz flowed through the warm lighting, and colorful neon shadows projected through the massive floor-to-ceiling glass windows, cutting the interior into ambiguous, blurry blocks of color. Customers chatted in low voices, and the soft clink of ice cubes against glass echoed continuously, forming the city's most common relaxed background noise.
Yu Shao paid absolutely no attention to the customer beside her who was just about to order. She stepped out from behind the bar, her pace incredibly fast, not even having time to untie the dark apron she usually wore around her waist when mixing drinks. She wore a distressed leather vest, and the thin silver chain near her collarbone clinked softly against the scattered rivets as she moved, making a very faint clatter. This subculture outfit, which originally had an intense "stay away" aura, completely lost its coldness and sharpness because of the undeniable urgency in her steps.
She came to a halt exactly half a step away from that familiar figure.
As the distance closed, her signature sweet woody scent, mixed with an almost imperceptible hint of tipsy fruitiness, washed over gently. The surrounding air seemed to silently contract within this extremely close distance.
Yu Shao lowered her head slightly. Instead of immediately looking into the eyes of the person in front of her, she naturally and skillfully reached out her hand, her fingertips accurately finding that familiar hem of clothing.
Her fingers, adorned with several thin metal rings, curled slightly, pinching a tiny wrinkle in the fabric. It was a completely non-threatening gesture, almost showing a trace of weakness. She didn't pull hard, but simply pinched the edge firmly, as if as long as this superficial physical connection remained, she wouldn't be left behind. The person in front of her remained silent. No blame, no rushing, and no clear instruction to stay or leave. This silence, amplified infinitely against the bustling background noise, turned into an invisible pressure. Yu Shao's fingertips curled imperceptibly, the light blue veins faintly visible beneath the cool, porcelain-white skin on the back of her hand.
"The bartender took the day off today, so I was just helping the front counter fill a few orders..."
She finally looked up, her voice incredibly soft as she spoke.
A watery, soft light shimmered in her downcast, misty-grey eyes. Strands of light platinum-blonde hair fell along her cheeks, covering half of her delicate, slender face and hiding the faint greyish-brown smoky makeup smudged at the corners of her eyes. Her gaze peered upward, carrying the natural, pitiable quality of puppy-dog eyes—quiet, focused, and stubborn.
"Sister, have you been getting bored waiting?"
