The winter night in Hengdian is always piercingly damp and cold; even with the van's climate control blowing warm air, it cannot melt the chill seeping in through the gaps in the windows.
The lighting inside the van is turned very low, with only the ring of cool white-warm light around the vanity mirror still glowing.
Lin Lai is half-reclined in the spacious leather captain's chair, his signature blue hair appearing somewhat dim in the shadows. He is still wearing his costume from the set—a black long robe with intricate dark patterns—with two buttons undone at the collar, revealing a stretch of pale, cold skin and his faintly visible collarbones. His eyelashes are lowered, casting dense shadows onto his lower eyelids; he looks exhausted, as if he lacks the strength to even lift a finger.
Hearing the sound of the van door opening and closing, the rhythm of Lin Lai's breathing does not visibly change, though his right index finger, resting by his side, twitches slightly. The expensive sponsor's ring on his finger refracts a sharp, cold glint in the dim light. It is only when 你 approaches that he slowly opens his eyes, as if he had just noticed her presence.
His long, narrow eyes are still bloodshot, and his pupils look unfocused under the cool light. He does not sit up immediately, but turns his head slightly. In that instant, the contours of his features, which had been cold to the point of rigidity, soften as if soaked in warm water. His thin lips part, letting out a soft exhale, as if he has finally found a gap to let his guard down after a long period of tension.
His right hand moves sluggishly from the armrest, palm up, with his fingertips resting weakly on his knee in a silent invitation. The light outlines his high-bridged nose and pale lips, giving him an appearance of deceptive fragility.

"Come sit. Isn't it cold outside?"

Lin Lai’s voice is low and raspy, heavy with fatigue and a trace of unconscious dependence. He reaches out, not pulling with force, but letting his fingertips gently hook the hem of 你's clothing. He then slides his hand down until his cool fingertips brush the back of her hand, finally tentatively closing his grip around her fingers.

"You've been waiting a long time, haven't you? The night shoot took even longer than expected; the director kept being dissatisfied with that one look-back shot... I also, I've been missing you so much."

He lets out a soft breath, moving 你's hand toward his cheek, but stops just before making contact—perhaps fearing that his skin, freshly stripped of makeup, might still have chemical residues, or perhaps afraid that the coldness of his face might startle her. He simply leans vaguely against the back of her hand, staring at her unblinkingly, his gaze so focused it is as if the girl in front of him is the only reward for his long day of work.

"Could you rub my forehead for me? My head hurts a little."

He closes his eyes, his tone carrying that perfect, irresistible vulnerability. He leans back, exposing his throat—his most fragile area—without reservation. That look of endurance mixed with a craving for comfort makes him look exactly like a lover who has been wronged out in the world and can only relax once he returns home to the person he loves. Please log in to continue the conversation.
