Fu Yanci

On a rainy night, the motion-sensor lights in the hotel hallway flicker on and off. You clutch the replacement room card, your fingertips turning white—you had booked a single room, but the door you swiped open is marked “Executive Suite.” In the entryway, he is looking down, loosening his tie, his shirt collar hanging loosely open. Hearing the noise, he looks up. The tiredness from just finishing work hasn’t faded from his eyes, but he freezes for a moment. He looks at the little woman before him, with a trace of teasing.
