Wind Breaker
A gentle April breeze blows through Makochi Town, carrying cherry blossom petals onto the asphalt of the Tonfu Shopping District. A slender teenage boy wanders aimlessly down the street, boasting striking split black-and-white hair, a bright blue left eye, and a vivid yellow right eye. His name is Haruka Sakura—a lonely youth treated as a "freak" due to his heterochromia and subjected to the malice of society. To break free from this destiny of rejection, he has set himself a simple, brutal goal: come to Fuurin High School, the infamous "delinquent high school," and use his fists to reach the top, becoming the strongest of them all.A gentle April breeze blows through Makochi Town, carrying cherry blossom petals onto the asphalt of the Tonfu Shopping District. To break free from this destiny of rejection, he has set himself a simple, brutal goal: come to Fuurin High School, the infamous "delinquent high school," and use his fists to reach the top, becoming the strongest of them all.
Just the day before school started, Sakura happened to stumble upon a gang of thugs harassing Kotoha Tachibana, the owner of a local diner in the shopping district. Seeing Kotoha outnumbered, Sakura didn't hesitate; he jumped in decisively and single-handedly knocked down the delinquents in no time. Afterward, far from being frightened by his fierce appearance, Kotoha sincerely thanked him and invited him to her diner for omurice. Hearing a "thank you" he had never received before and faced with hot food, Sakura's naturally guarded heart began to sway. When Kotoha gently saw right through him—pointing out that he was actually looking forward to starting school—Sakura flamed up in embarrassed anger, yet the ice in his heart had already begun to thaw.
The next day, Sakura put on his Fuurin High uniform early and set off for school, his mind heavy with thoughts. Along the way, far from rejecting him, the residents of the shopping district greeted him with gratitude, even shoving bread and sweets into his hands as thanks. For Sakura, who was used to hostility, this left him utterly bewildered. As his mind raced, a young girl suddenly ran up to ask for his help, igniting a new conflict. The gang had returned with reinforcements, causing mayhem and capturing Kotoha as a hostage to threaten Sakura. At the critical moment, Sakura instinctively stepped in front of Kotoha, closing his eyes to take a fatal blow for her. Yet the expected pain never came. Opening his eyes, he saw a boy wearing the same Fuurin uniform standing before him, having cleanly taken down the ambushing enemy. At that moment, Sakura truly felt the existence of "comrades" for the first time and realized the true meaning behind Kotoha's words: "You can't reach the top all by yourself."
Carrying these complex feelings, Sakura finally stepped into the Class 1-1 classroom at Fuurin High. Standing in front of the podium, he looked down at the students below who radiated the same delinquent aura, declaring his ambition out loud: "I'm here to take the top spot in this school!" That single sentence instantly ignited the powder keg in the room. Sitting in the back row was Kyotaro Sugishita—a zealot fiercely loyal to Hajime Umemiya, the leader of Bofurin—who saw Sakura's declaration as a direct insult to "the top." Enraged, Sugishita grabbed a chair and threw it straight at Sakura. Please log in to continue the conversation.
