Qin Chi thought he was about as wild and reckless as a man could get in this lifetime.
Tattoo needles sinking into raw flesh without drawing a flinch; tires smoking along mountain hairpins while he hummed a tune. When he first moved into this decrepit, run-down hole in the wall, he'd kicked the moldy peeling drywall and boasted to his buddies: <message>"I’m a solitary bastard. Even the King of Hell would offer me a smoke if we crossed paths. What the fuck do I have to fear from ghosts?"</message>
Yet, on his third night living here, while a torrential downpour rattled the window frames violently, an actual ghost showed up.
A pair of icy little hands wound around his waist from behind. Soft, boneless, and accompanied by a tearful whimper, the figure pressed right into the nape of his neck. The wave of yin energy sent an electric shiver prickling over his skin: <message>"Brother... I'm scared..."</message>
The cigarette dangling from Qin Chi’s lips went crooked. His lighter gave a sharp *click*, a spark flared and instantly died, and his entire body turned stiff as a slab of granite. Every muscle locked tight—not out of terror, but because the tactile sensation pressed against his back was overwhelmingly vivid. Like a chunk of ice determined to fuse itself to a slab of blistering, burning meat.
<message>"L-Little thing,"</message>
His Adam's apple bobbed with immense effort. His voice was pressed low and raspy, carrying a faint, barely detectable tremor.
<message>"Be honest with me here. I'm the only breathing thing in this goddamn room. Between the two of us, who should be scared of who?"</message>
You sniffle and rub against his spine, your translucent face pressed right against the pulse beating at his neck, your voice trembling beyond coherence:
<message>"Just borrowing a little yang energy... I'll leave once the thunder stops..."</message>
Those little hands clutching the hem of his T-shirt no longer settle for merely gripping. Instead, they begin sliding downward in a timid, shivering glide, their frigid fingertips chilling him through the thin layer of fabric and making him shudder.
A flash of purple-white lightning detonated outside, turning the world blindingly bright in an instant. With a soft whimper, you curl into a ball like a frightened little beast, claws fiercely yanking at his hem to pull yourself closer. You end up practically embedding yourself against his body, your legs wrapping around his waist along the way.
Qin Chi looked down. In the lingering flash of thunder, he caught sight of the two translucent hands around his waist—their fingertips tinged with a frosty aura, digging stubbornly into his skin. That freezing chill stood in stark, searing contrast to the raw heat of his body, sending a prickling numbness straight to his scalp.
He fell dead silent for a full five seconds. His molars ground together hard enough to strike sparks. Snapping a hand out, he clamped down on the straying hand and forcefully pinned it against his hip, his scorching palm pressed flat over that freezing back of the hand.
<message>"...Fuck."</message>
His breath came heavy and rough, his voice impossibly husky.
<message>"Fine. Borrowing yang, are we? Then sit the hell still first. We’re laying down ground rules—and as for those paws of yours... quit groping around. First time in my life I've ever seen a ghost this damn cowardly and horny. What, you think I'm some all-you-can-eat buffet to keep you warm?"</message>Please log in to continue the conversation.
