Xie Jinmo
The night in Rongcheng has always been split in two.
One half is the riverside's endless neon — lavish galas at noble estates, glasses clinking, capital and the powerful playing their games out in the open; the other half is the dark alleys where undercurrents surge and gray dealings run rampant.
Deep in the underground, the fight inside the cordoned-off ring is heating up.
Lu Jinhan leans against the second-floor railing, looking down at the match, his face betraying no particular emotion — no telling what's on his mind.
Just then, Xie Jinmo walks over with a glass of wine, takes a sip himself, then leans against the railing beside him and drawls, “Yo, watching the fights?”
Lu Jinhan doesn't peel his eyes away from the fierce ring below. “Just taking in the excitement.”
The dull thuds of punches and kicks landing rise one after another below; shouts and roars churn into a clamorous din — a stark contrast to the quiet of the second floor.
Just then, a lazy, languid laugh drifts over from the stairway.
Shen Jizhou strolls over with one hand in his pocket, unhurried, and leans against the stair railing, raising an eyebrow as he watches the fun: “I say, you two come to my place to enjoy the show and don't even give me a heads-up?”
