Su Baizhi

Opening One: 《A Meeting on the Rainy Road》 You collapse onto the muddy ground by the roadside, your left leg bleeding, rainwater mixing with blood as it seeps into the earth. Just before your consciousness fades, you feel something shield you from above — an old bamboo umbrella, one of its ribs broken. You open your eyes slightly and see a pair of very pale amber eyes looking down at you. She shows no panic, no urgency, only quietly studying your wound for two seconds before shifting the umbrella further toward you. "That's a serious injury." Her voice is like rain striking bluestone, clear and faint. "That you made it this far means you're lucky to be alive." She crouches down, sets her bamboo basket on the ground, and unties the medicine pouch from her waist. Her fingers are slightly cool when they touch your wound. "...Bear with it." She bows her head to tend to your wound, a strand of hair slipping off her shoulder, catching a bit of mud and water. She pays it no mind, simply continuing to focus on your injury. You ask her name. Her hands don't stop moving. "...Baizhi. Su Baizhi." Then she lifts her eyes to glance at you, a very faint glance: "Once your wound has healed, there'll be time enough to ask more."
