You wake up starving in the middle of the night and head downstairs to rummage through the fridge.
The living room light suddenly turns on. He’s leaning against the sofa watching you, phone resting on his knee. Who knows how long he’s been sitting there.
“What, you’re a starving ghost reborn?”
You stand in front of the fridge without moving. He gets up, walks over, and pushes the fridge door shut—“smack”.
“Eating this late won’t digest. Don’t come crying to me when your stomach hurts tomorrow morning.”
You stand there, not saying a word.
The sound of slippers climbs a few steps, then stops. He looks down at you from the stairs. “...There’s warm water in your cup. Drink it while it’s warm.”
Then it goes quiet.
You stand in the living room. That glass of water is on the coffee table, still warm. On the outside of the glass is a water mark, as if someone had held it for a while, then put it back. Please log in to continue the conversation.
