Vast Ocean Manor
As evening falls, the daylight fades from Vast Ocean Manor. The crystal chandeliers hanging from the European-style vaulted ceiling illuminate one by one, washing the expansive, double-height living room in a warm, gilded glow.
The silence in the air verges on solemn.
Six young men of distinct builds and demeanors stand shoulder to shoulder in the center of the hall. None speak; each keeps his ground, their conflicting auras clashing in quiet, turbulent undercurrents.
Lu Jin stands at the very front, his spine ramrod straight. An unyielding toughness radiates from every inch of him. A faint, bitter cocoa scent lies coiled beneath his surface, carrying an irrepressible restlessness and defiance, yet he strictly observes proper etiquette, not shifting so much as an inch.
Fu Yan stands beside him, projecting an easygoing, gentle poise. A faint smile constantly graces the corners of his lips, his bearing polished, polite, and ostensibly easy to get along with. Yet behind his eyes lies deep calculation, quietly assessing the entire estate and everyone around him without a flicker of emotion.
Su Zhi carries an aristocratic, imposing posture. His aura is icy and overbearing, exuding an aloofness that warns strangers to keep their distance. Tucked between his brows is a bitter mix of humiliation and wild rebellion at being forced into this corner; he remains silent, but his presence alone commands pressure.
Jiang Yan stands slightly toward the back of the group, his posture somewhat hesitant. His fingers curl faintly inward, his expression uneasy. His gaze softly sweeps across the lavish, cavernous hall, carrying a persistent unease and bewildered vulnerability he cannot shake.
Wen Su is the most nonchalant of all. Slouched with an effortless slouch, he eschews any proper posture, carelessly looking around as if he were merely here to enjoy the spectacle—completely devoid of the tension expected of someone walking into an arranged marriage.
Qi Ye stands at the very end, so quiet he is almost nonexistent. He looks neither at the others nor at his surroundings, his eyes cast down. The presence clinging to him is as faint as a wisp of mist—remote, indifferent, entirely detached from worldly affairs.
Ji Zhi, the head butler, steps forward with composed grace in his crisp uniform.
Having grown up alongside you, he manages the entirety of Vast Ocean Manor. Meticulous and thorough, he carries a gentle demeanor that never compromises on discipline.
Ji Zhi's voice is clear, steady, and quiet as he addresses the six men:
"Young masters, from this day forth, Vast Ocean Manor shall be your permanent residence."
He gestures with a hand, smoothly laying out their accommodations:
"The East Wing contains three standalone courtyards, allocated individually to Master Lu Jin, Master Su Zhi, and Master Fu Yan. The West Wing's three courtyards shall be occupied by Master Wen Su, Master Jiang Yan, and Master Qi Ye."
"Each courtyard is fully furnished, complete with its own domestic staff, living quarters, study, and private terrace to ensure absolute privacy. Life at the manor is leisurely and unrestrictive; we ask only that you remain well-behaved and observe proper propriety. If you require anything, you may summon the servants at any time."
The six murmur their acknowledgments, offering sparse nods. None say more than necessary.
There are no arguments, no inquiries. Yet behind every composed facade, distinct thoughts churn.
Servants step forward at the right moment, quietly ushering the six away from the hall and toward their respective courtyards to unpack and settle in.
In an instant, the grand European-style living room clears out.
Waiting until the sound of footsteps has completely dissolved, Ji Zhi drops the gentle persona he used for the guests. With light, measured steps, he walks through the corridors of carved archways, heading deep into the manor's private underground wine cellar.
The cellar is temperature-controlled and sheltered from light, tranquil and cavernous.
European stone arches are flanked by warm sconces. Racks upon racks of aged vintage wines stand in orderly rows, the air rich with a mellow, crisp bouquet.
You stand alone before a wine rack, lightly holding the stem of a crystal glass, letting the crimson vintage swirl gently against the glass.
Coiled around you is an Enigma presence—faint, yet blanketing the entire grounds of the manor: cool, heavy, and silently holding absolute dominion over every breath and beating heart within the estate.
Ji Zhi pauses a short distance behind you, bowing his head. His tone is familiar yet deeply deferential, delivering a concise report without a single wasted word:
"Young Master, all six partners for the political union have arrived. Their residences have been appropriately assigned, and they have retired to their respective courtyards to rest."
"The boundaries and pheromone suppression throughout the estate remain fully stable. None have crossed the line, nor shown any unruly defiance. Everything is in order, awaiting your command."
The wine in your glass ripples faintly.
You lift your eyes toward the tiers of wooden wine racks, your expression completely calm, betraying neither pleasure nor displeasure. Please log in to continue the conversation.
