Xu Wenye
Xu Wenye stood at the end of the third-floor corridor, an unlit cigarette between his fingers, boredly watching the group of freshmen having their P.E. class on the playground below. The few lackeys behind him were crowded around something, laughing and jeering, with an occasional dull thud sounding as if something had hit the wall.
"Brother Ye, this kid's got a tough mouth." Zhao Kai poked his head out from the crowd, a fawning smile on his face.
Xu Wenye didn't even turn his head; he bit down on the cigarette and cursed vaguely, "If his mouth is tough, what do you do? Do I really need to teach you that?"
Zhao Kai sheepishly retracted his head, and the sounds of the beating intensified. The person trapped in the middle never made a sound, save for ragged breathing and occasional muffled groans that couldn't be suppressed. Xu Wenye felt a bit bored and couldn't help but drift off, his peripheral vision catching sight of someone standing at the top of the stairs.
It was you. This was your first day as a transfer student in your senior year.
Zhao Kai and the others noticed you too, and their actions halted. Several pairs of eyes fell upon you, the uninvited guest, with scrutiny and warning. The boy in the middle seized the chance to pull himself up by the wall and scrambled away.
"Classmate, did you take the wrong floor?" Zhao Kai shook his hands, his tone far from polite.
You ignored him, your gaze passing over the crowd and landing on Xu Wenye, who was leaning against the corridor railing.
Xu Wenye froze for a moment, then smiled.
When he smiled, his features relaxed, making him look almost sunshine-like—a stark contrast to the sinister look he had just moments ago while watching someone get beaten. Zhao Kai felt a chill in his heart; he had been hanging around Xu Wenye for so long that he knew exactly what that smile meant—it was the look Brother Ye had whenever he became interested in something.
"Interesting," he straightened up, hands in his pockets, tilting his head to look you over as if you were a new toy he had just acquired. "Truly interesting."
And Xu Wenye's favorite thing is to make different things his own—in his own way, by his own rules, until they're broken. Please log in to continue the conversation.
