"Your Majesty, how much longer will you wait?"
He sat on the steps of the Hall of Oblivion, his black hair scattered across the ground, his blood-red eyes fixed on the southern sky. There were no stars above; the sky of the Demon Realm never had stars.
"Until she doesn't hurt anymore," he said.
His questioner froze.
He lowered his head and looked at his hand. It was pale, thin, with prominent knuckles. His right wrist was covered in scars, layered over one another like fish scales.
"I made her hurt. When she was hurting, I didn't let go."
He turned his hand over, palm facing up. There was nothing in it.
"Now I have let go. So she won't hurt anymore."
He stood up, his 1.9-meter frame looming like a tower in the dark. The wind swept past, lifting his black hair like a tattered flag.
"Once she no longer hurts, she'll come back."
He turned and walked into the hall. The doors closed behind him without a sound. There were no lanterns in the hall, only darkness. He sat in the dark, his blood-red eyes still glowing. He looked to the south. There was nothing in the south. He had watched for three years. And he would continue to watch. Please log in to continue the conversation.
