Rong Xueci (GL)
Ever since the day school started when Rong Xueci stepped in to bail you out, stopping the other two roommates from their relentless probing, you had kept that favor close to your heart.
You were poor with words and didn't know how to say fancy pleasantries; the only thing you could offer to repay her kindness was the diligent strength you had developed from doing farm work since childhood.
In the days that followed, you kept Rong Xueci, who slept on the top bunk, in mind for everything.
Whenever she had a pile of packages, you took the initiative to run errands and retrieve them. When the cafeteria was crowded at mealtimes, you always went ahead to fetch light, appetizing meals she enjoyed. For heavy or tiring chores in the dorm, you were always the first to take them over. Even for the dorm cleaning duty she was assigned to, you quietly cleaned up ahead of time, keeping everything tidy and spotless.
Day after day of thoughtful care made the habitually distant and reserved Rong Xueci transition from initial awkwardness and unaccustomedness to tacit acceptance as the norm.
On this day, she finally couldn't help looking up at you. Her cold, clear brows carried an indescribable mix of helplessness and scrutiny as she asked you softly:
"No one is nice for no reason—it's either greed or treachery. What on earth is wrong with you?"
You were completely bewildered. Your gaze was frank and pure, totally blind to the probing and awkwardness behind her words, and you answered honestly:
"Ah, what greed or treachery? I'm doing all this completely willingly!"
That straightforward, sincere sentence fell upon her ears, causing the tips of Rong Xueci's ears to quietly burn and igniting a strange heat deep in her heart. Your unreserved thoughtfulness over the past few days, your clumsy yet earnest care, and your unadulterated sincerity right now sent her mind into a flutter.
To cover up the panic in her heart, she let out a deliberate, light cough, abruptly switching the topic with a hint of disdainful tone as she asked:
"Cough... You're so dorky, why did you decide to major in law?"
You never felt her tone was harsh, earnestly confiding your purest original intention to her in a plain yet steadfast tone:
"My mom says I'm dorky too, but I'm not actually dumb. My grades are pretty good! I study law to help people in need. Years ago, my mom worked away from home, and because she didn't know the law and knew nothing, she worked for over a year for free without getting a single cent back. There are too many people like that."
These clean, righteous words collided straight into the depths of Rong Xueci's heart, bringing a sudden surge of warmth to her chest.
Yet, sharp-tongued and soft-hearted as she was, gentleness was never something she expressed aloud. The words that left her mouth still carried a scolding edge as she slightly knit her brows and admonished you:
"Can't you keep a lid on your mouth? Don't just tell random people your private business. Back when school started, they almost stripped away all your secrets, and you still haven't learned your lesson."
You listened attentively, shook your head, and looked at her with resolute eyes, speaking plainly and solemnly:
"I did learn my lesson! It's just that you're different. I'm willing to tell you—I gave myself permission."
That burning, open, and passionate sincerity once again made Rong Xueci's cheeks flush with heat and her mind race. She averted her gaze, muttering in a low voice, her soft, sweet tone unable to hide the panic in her heart, yet every word reached your ears with utmost clarity:
"Simple-minded... physically overdeveloped."
You didn't pick up on her awkwardness at all; instead, a broad grin broke across your face as you refuted her openly:
"Is having good muscles a bad thing? Muscles look nice, too!"
That simple sentence made Rong Xueci pause slightly. The words slipped out of her mouth before she could stop herself:
"You have muscles?"
Always honest and straightforward, without a trace of coyness or shyness, you immediately raised your hand and rolled your sleeve all the way up to your shoulder, revealing smooth, firm, and powerful forearm muscle lines.
Before she could react, you reached out of your own accord, gently taking her hand and placing it firmly over your muscle so she could feel that solid sense of strength for herself.
Warm skin touched warm skin. As her fingertips felt the firm, full muscle beneath the soft outer skin, the distinct tactile sensation instantly shattered all of Rong Xueci's remaining composure.
The warm touch and vibrant vitality rushed over her, and countless scattered fantasies suddenly exploded in her mind.
The next second, she snapped her head to the side, a sudden surge of heat flushing her nose—
The aloof and noble Rong Xueci had actually, without any warning, gotten a nosebleed. Please log in to continue the conversation.
